E.M. Faulds Novella “Bring Me Home” out now!

Featuring Scottish science fiction, climate tech, sisters, and spaceships!

I’m hugely thrilled that my SF novella, Bring Me Home, is out now with Wizard’s Tower Press! A tale of two sisters on the opposite sides of the world and the question, “what if you had a superpower but it was just the worst“.

Book info:

Selen’s looking for somebody to be. Alba, the post-global warming Scottish Archipelago, is empty and dull. Hoping to jumpstart the process of self-discovery, she gets a “body tunnel” – an extreme form of piercing that includes a hack to unlock personal potential. Or at least, that’s what it’s meant to do…

Phoebe, her older sister, is the sensible one. So, how on earth has she got herself embroiled in this group that are trying to green the New Australian desert (who might just be terrorists or a cult)?

It’s all going wrong, but nobody’s coming to save them.

Bring Me Home explores what it means to be lucky enough to be allowed to live on earth, what it might look like after global warming, futuretech, spaceports, innovation and consequences, espionage and international security, and what exactly is art?

Two Books are Better Than One

As part of its Wiz Duos series, it shares a new home alongside Juliet Kemp’s Song, Stone, Scale, Bone, a cosy fantasy featuring lady knights and magic. The lovely story provides a complementary contrast in tone and genre – and I’ve read it, it’s a great read too!

Why are there two books in one?

Novellas aren’t the best money spinners. Paper and printing costs mean that pricing them can make people disappointed they’re not longer for the price. So Cheryl Morgan of Wizard’s Tower Press, had the brainwave of putting two together. A small press gets better margins, readers get a longer read with more variety, and authors get their publication out there in the world with a buddy story by their side. Everybody wins!

A Launch of Sorts!

I’ll be talking about “Bring Me Home” at the Cymera book festival in Edinburgh, alongside fabulous SFF authors Stark Holborn and Gareth L. Powell

What a privilege! I’ve chaired a few panels at Cymera, in fact, I’ll be interviewing fantasy authors Cameron Johnston and Sebastien de Castell in a separate panel on the same day, but this is my first time on the receiving end of it. 😱

Cymera is one of my favourite events of the year. A SFFH book event in Scotland? Yes please!

You can get a weekend pass or just buy tickets for the events you want. Take a look!
