Fantasycon 2026 programme participation

Fantasycon’s programme is now locked and loaded! Here are the items I’ll be taking part in.

Fantasycon is the annual convention associated with the British Fantasy Society. There will be British fantasy, science fiction, and horror writers and readers all chatting about what they love. It’s a hoot!

This year it’ll be on my home turf, Glasgow, and hopefully I’ll see you there! It takes place from the 9th to the 11th of October in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Get more info and join the convention here.

My schedule

Friday

5pm – the GSFWC 40 year anniversary anthology launch

The Glasgow SF Writers’ Circle has been around for a bit. In fact, 40 years!

To celebrate they’ll be launching Haverin, an anthology of short stories from Circle members past and present. Featuring names like Hal Duncan, Cameron Johnston, Eliza Chan, and me! I have a brand-new story in there for you.

Come, drink wine and / or eat tablet! And get your hands on the book with this beautiful cover by award-winning artist and Circle author, Jenni Coutts!

Saturday

11am – Panel: Overlooked Realities of the Every Day in Fiction

Description: “What are some of the lived realities fiction fails to cover that we deal with on a daily basis? How can including these elements make our stories richer and more representative?”

I’m moderating this panel, where I’ll be asking these questions to panellists Victor de Almeida, Mark Lawrence, Steven McKinnon and Sophie Jarrell.

Sunday

11am – Panel: The Structure of Short Stories

Description: “A short story can deliver just as much joy as a novel but do they function differently? Our panellists look at the structure and function of shorter fiction.”

I’ll be on the panel this time, discussing thoughts on this topic alongside some of British speculative fiction authors and editors as Margaret Eve, Pete Sutton, and Gavin Smith. Our moderator, Tiffani Angus, certainly knows her onions too, as one half of the duo that brought us Spec Fic for Newbies!

4pm – Reading

I’ll be reading a bit from These Broken Little Worlds alongside El McInerny, Jim P Ballard, and Marco Michelutto. Group reading sessions are always interesting, as it’s such a pick and mix. Will you find your next favourite author there?

And which story will I read from? Choices, choices.
